I’ve spent my life on a stage, but the fells are where I found a different point of view. These photographs come from long walks into remote country — waiting through sleet and flat grey light for the few minutes when a valley catches fire, or the snow clouds sweep through, or a stag wanders into the frame as if it were meant to be.
What surprises people is how they’re made: not with heavy camera gear, but with a phone and a wide-angle lens, carried light into places most cameras never reach. It’s proof, I think, that the picture is in the eye and the patience — not the equipment.
Every image here was earned in the cold and the early dark. I hope a little of that wild morning comes home with the print.
